“SPE is one of the finest technical societies, and it is especially encouraging to be recognized by your peers,” Kokal said. “It is also a humbling experience, as I have taken more from the SPE than given back.”
Kokal was a founding contributor of the local SPE newsletter Sand Rose and was chosen as SPE Distinguished Lecturer for the 2007-2008 season. He also has been active on committees and chaired and edited SPE journals.
Kokal mentors junior members and is director of the SPE’s R&D Technical Section. He has written more than 75 technical papers and contributed to the society’s Petroleum Engineering Handbook.
The focus-area champion for Enhanced Oil Recovery at EXPEC ARC, Kokal is an expert in reservoir fluids, crude oil emulsions and EOR. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (New Delhi) and a Ph.D. from the University of Calgary (Canada), both in Chemical Engineering
