Sindhi: Sinbad was a Sindhi?

Sinbad the Sailor

(also spelled Sindbad or Sindhbad )

Simple things like names leave behind a story ! The story associates them with many things, that is why we have names.

The Silk Route, meant trading oppurtunities for Sindhis, most trade was from Sindh. ( Imports and Exports)

Chinese Silk, Ming pottery, Indian Malmal, Spices, Gold, Jwellery, Ornamental Weaponary, Precious stones…etc used to be shipped from Karachi’s port (Brahambore). Due to the rise of Roman empire, the demand for goods from Sindh was very high but the routes were not known as these were far away lands.

Sindh bad or Sinbad was one such trader. Why he is cited to be from Bhagdad or why importance was given to Egypt and not Sindh is another story, Christopher Columbus did not come looking for Egypt but Sindh  or the Indus Valley Civilisation.
